Keeping Exercise a Priority During the
Holidays
Now that the holidays are here we need to remember to make exercise a priority during the next few weeks. Too often people put exercise on the shelf during the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Years day. Making exercise a priority is easier than you think. All it takes is a little creativity.
Here are some tips on how to keep fit:
- Break up your cardio--You don't need to necessarily set aside 30-60 minutes everyday for cardio.Try to do several 10-minute, high intensity workouts spread out throughout the day. Just remember 10 minutes is better than none.
- Exercise wherever you are--Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Or simply see how many steps you can get each day.
- Make it a family affair--If your going to spending time with family during the holidays why not get them moving too. Take a walk around the neighborhood to see the different decorations. Play games or contests that keep the kids moving as well.
- Don't forget your muscles--Find some simple strength training exercises that you can do anywhere. Pick exercises that involve the whole body, such as bodyweight squats, that way you're getting the most out of your time.
